The rings and necklaces photographed correspond to the sensation that the entire book leaves in my imagination: they symbolize aristocracy, lust, sophistication, and the succession of the protagonist's numerous lovers.
Today, Rome is a hyper-touristic city, besieged in its most famous places. I have decided not to eliminate this from the photos but to emphasize the contrast with the Rome of the late 19th century when it presented itself.
